Background

i4pd were asked to develop a solution to reduce downtime and improve cable maintenance in the turbine yaw room.

Approach

We researched the client's 3 main turbine series, measuring critical dimensions and evaluating accessibility for any new components to be fitted in this environment, including transportation to the top of the tower in lifts. Ideas were generated through discussion and sketching and further developments in CAD. Key to the performance was selection of appropriate materials. 

Result

i4pd coordinated tooling and procurement and supplied boxed kits, including installation manuals to over 30 wind farm sites across the UK and Europe. Two of our very brave staff held the necessary climbing at heights certifications.
